MaCCI Annual Conference 2023

Conference

The Mannheim Centre for Competition and Innovation (MaCCI), a joint initiative between ZEW Mannheim and the University of Mannheim, is pleased to announce its 2023 Annual Conference. The aim of the conference is to provide a platform for exchange and discussion on topics in competition- and innovation-related research between academic researchers and practitioners in public authorities, legal counsel, and economic consultancies. Information on previous editions of the conference is available at www.macci.eu.

The conference will comprise plenary as well as parallel sessions. The plenary sessions will consist of two keynote lectures while the parallel sessions will provide an excellent opportunity to learn more on ongoing research in all fields of competition law and economics. The parallel sessions will include papers on business strategy related to competition, the intersection between competition and innovation, and regulated industries. Theoretical, empirical, as well as case-oriented papers are welcome. In particular, we invite legal scholars to submit papers focusing on EU competition or comparative competition law.

According to current planning, the 2023 MaCCI Annual Conference will be held in person.

All individual submissions must include the following information: an abstract of up to 200 words, the author’s full name and affiliation, as well as contact details. Please submit only full papers (incomplete drafts are welcome).We also encourage submissions of full sessions. Any such proposal must include a short session abstract and the papers (or extended abstracts thereof) to be presented in the session itself. Typically, a session comprises three papers and all presenters should have confirmed their willingness to participate. All proposals must be written in English and shall be submitted to the organising committee via MacciAnnual2023@zew.de as a PDF file no later than 30 November 2022. Participants interested in discussing a paper without presenting should send a message to the organising committee.

Authors of accepted papers will be notified no later than 31 December 2022. Presenters must register by 15 February 2023 and may be asked to discuss another paper. Young researchers are particularly encouraged to submit papers.
