The Summer Workshop gives young economists the opportunity to discuss their scientific work with other young colleagues as well as renowned scientists. Besides the presentations of the participants the following internationally renowned scientists give lectures: Prof. Jan Hanousek (Charles University, Prague), Prof. Ronald MacDonald (University of Strathclyde, Glasgow), Prof. Richard Portes (London Business School).

The Summer Workshop consists of two Parts:- Core Workshop: May, 9 - 11, 2001(programme and papers can be seen below)

- Extended Training Programme/Research Co-operation: May, 12 - 18, 2001at the ZEW
Individual Programmes according to the Research Interests of the Participants
e.g.
- Start of Joint Papers
- Discussion of Research Topics
- Presentation and discussion of papers
- Methodological Support by ZEW staff
This part of the Summer School is aimed to stimulate contacts between researchers concerning the topic of the Summer School. The ZEW staff will be actively involved in creating networks and supporting research activities.
The participants will have PC support and access to the research facilities of the ZEW.

Thursday, May 17Visit to Heidelberg and Dinner (depending on the number of participants)
