Johannes Bersch has been a researcher at ZEW’s Research Department “Economics of Innovation and Industrial Dynamics” since December 2012. He studied economics at Heidelberg University, the University of Mannheim, as well as the University of Essex (UK). In his studies he focused on industrial economics, econometrics, and finance. In his dissertation at KU Leuven, finished successfully in March 2018, he investigated the role of bank relationships for firms. Currently, Johannes Bersch is mainly working on topics in entrepreneurial finance. For example, he is investigating the role start-ups play in the decarbonisation process and the financing conditions they face in this context.
