Mannheim Entrepreneur Manfred Fuchs Exhibits his Works at ZEW

Research

From November 21 to December 21, 2001, and from January 2 to January 7, 2002, ZEW (L 7,1 68161 Mannheim) will host an exhibition with works of Mannheim entrepreneur Manfred Fuchs. The exhibition is open to visitors Monday to Friday from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., except on holidays.

Manfred Fuchs is Chairman of the Executive Board of Fuchs Petrolub AG, a globally operating supplier of lubricants and chemical products. Rather exceptionally for a successful entrepreneur, he has been devoted to painting and, at first, also to sculpture ever since his days at school and university. Before studying economics, he attended sculpture classes at the Free Art Academy Mannheim, where he studied under Gerd Dehof, and later went to the Rödel Art School in Mannheim.

Most of the works exhibited at ZEW were painted in the Mediterranean area and capture the specific light and colours of the Mediterranean landscapes and coasts. Apart from that, the Swiss alpine regions of Engadin and Valais as well as his native Palatinate have inspired his artistic work.

By providing local artists, in particular, with the opportunity to display their works at ZEW premises, the institute not only wants to demonstrate its close connection with the Rhine-Neckar region, but also opens its doors to visitors who usually would not find their way into an economic research institute. Furthermore, the proceeds of the paintings sold during the exhibition will be donated to welfare facilities of the City of Mannheim.
