The aim of this study is to update a report on key innovation indicators for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. In a concise way, the study offers an overview on the state and recent developments in research and innovation in the German chemical and pharmaceutical industry as well as in science and technology related to chemistry and pharmaceuticals.

Indicators cover R&D and innovation activities of firms, research and education in the public sector as well as economic results of innovation efforts (including exports of high-technology goods).

In 2026, the main focus will be on analysing government funding for research on chemical and pharmaceutical topics, as well as R&D and innovation funding in the chemical industry.
