Sebastian Valet completed his master’s degree in economics at the University of Cologne with a focus on econometrics and statistics as well as market design. During his studies, he spent an exchange semester at the University of Padua in Italy. His master’s thesis was concerned with the modeling of high-dimensional distributions using copula models.

In September 2019, Sebastian Valet joined ZEW as a researcher at the Junior Research Group “Digital Market Design”. His research focuses on the impact of digital platforms on the design of markets, particularly with regard to the use of algorithmic decision-making.
