In September, the building of the Mannheim-based Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) will provide space for an art exhibition for the first time since its inauguration in 1997. The renowned research institute headed by the member of the German government economics advisor Prof. Wolfgang Franz and the Director of Business and Administration Ernst O. Schulze invites the art-loving public to an interesting encounter between science and art.

The first ZEW art exhibition will be dedicated to the latest works of the "European" artist Armand Warin. Of French nationality, Warin finally settled in the Rhine-Neckar region after several years as a globetrotter. In the meantime – owing to a huge number of international exhibitions – he has gained his reputation as an unconventional and eagerly experimental artist far beyond Germany’s borders. Armand Warin experiments with colours by using a marbleising technique, which has become characteristic of him. His techniques rely on the principles of "controlled chance". His characteristic compositions, brimming over with motion, rhythm and dynamics, emerge from a controlled merging of lacquers. The surfaces, giving the impression of depth and the inexhaustible wealth of forms and structures play with the viewer’s imagination. The public exhibition of Warin’s works will be launched on September 5 in the ZEW building, L 7, 1 (between the central station and the Mannheim Palace). ZEW invites their guests to a formal opening on September 11, at 6.30 p.m.
