Digital Economy

Raphaela Andres has been a researcher at ZEW's “Digital Economy” research department since October 2018. She studied Economics at the University of Mannheim and at WU Vienna - University of Economics and Business, Austria, and completed her PhD, titled “Empirical Essays on Policy Interventions in the Digital Economy,” in 2024 at the Institut Polytechnique de Paris in France.

Her research focuses on socially and economically relevant aspects of digital platforms and social media. Using large-scale datasets, she investigates the dynamics of harmful online content, such as hate speech and misinformation, under varying conditions, including platform design and regulatory frameworks. Raphaela Andres is the contact person for the research focus area “Digital Platforms”.
