CH Indicator of Economic Sentiment

Economic expectations for Switzerland have improved slightly by 0.9 points in July 2012. The ZEW-CS-Indicator is now standing at minus 42.5 points. The share of analysts expecting the economic development in Switzerland to stay unchanged over the next six months has grown by 5.9 percentage points to 53.7 per cent. After the steep fall in the past month, the economic expectations seem to have stabilized at a low level in July.

The ZEW-CS Indicator is calculated monthly by the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in cooperation with Credit Suisse (CS). The indicator reflects the expectations of the surveyed financial market experts regarding the economic development in Switzerland on a six-month time horizon.

The assessment of the current economic situation declined slightly by 1.3 points to 18.4 points. The number of analysts who assess the current economic situation in Switzerland as "good" is the same as in June (24.0 percent). The majority still appraises it as "normal" (70.4 percent).
