ZEW-CS Financial Market Test Switzerland - Economic Expectations Have Brightened Again

The ZEW-CS Indicator for Switzerland has risen in December 2015 from exactly zero points to a reading of 16.6 points. Economic expectations for Switzerland have thus almost bounced back to the level registered in October 2015 (18.3 points). The ZEW-CS Indicator reflects the expectations of the surveyed financial market experts regarding the economic development in Switzerland on a six-month time horizon. It is calculated monthly by the Mannheim Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in cooperation with Credit Suisse (CS), Zurich.

The indicator assessing the current economic situation in Switzerland improved as well in December. The indicator has increased by 9.5 points to a slightly negative level of minus 2.7 points. As in the previous months, the clear majority of survey respondents regard the present state of Switzerland’s economy as being "normal". The group of analysts sharing this assessment has increased slightly and now amounts to 86.1 per cent of respondents.
