Young People Present at ZEW
Dates and NewsYES! School Competition with a New Focus
Current challenges and concise solutions for the future: around 50 pupils and their teachers from Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria visited ZEW on 1 July as part of the YES! – Young Economic Solutions school competition. This year, the German Climate Foundation is responsible for the competition for the first time, with a new focus on sustainability and entrepreneurship.
ZEW continues to be involved and hosted the South-West regional final on 1 July. Two schools presented projects based on ZEW research topics.
- The Albertus-Magnus-Gymnasium Stuttgart worked on the topic “Bad air, bad mood? How strongly does air pollution influence our behaviour and how can we respond?”, proposed by Dr. Eline Schoonjans.
- The Johann-Sebastian-Bach-Gymnasium Mannheim addressed the topic “Public sector, green action: How can sustainable procurement support the fight against climate change?”, proposed by Linus Strecke and Dr. Bastian Krieger.
In this round, two of the six participating teams secured a place in the final: Annette-Kolb-Gymnasium from Traunstein, with a platform enabling tenants to actively participate in the energy transition, and Ehrenbürg-Gymnasium Forchheim, with its idea for learning gardens at schools. ZEW would like to thank all teams and supervisors for their commitment and congratulates the two winning schools, which will travel to the final in Berlin on 30 September and 1 October.
