Pensions and Sustainable Financial Markets

Martin Brown is a professor of banking at the University of St. Gallen and ZEW Research Associate in the Research Unit “Pensions and Sustainable Financial Markets”. His research has focused on financial intermediation, household finance and organisational economics and has been published e.g. in Econometrica, the Economic Journal, the Journal of the European Economic Association, Management Science, the Review of Finance, the Journal of Financial Intermediation, and the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking. His recent work examines household credit and deposit behaviour, as well as the organisational economics of banks.

Martin Brown graduated from the University of Zurich in 2004. Prior to joining the University of St. Gallen, he worked as a senior economist at the Swiss National Bank, an associate professor offinance at Tilburg University and as a consultant and project manager for financial sector development and small business promotion in Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe.
