Since 1993, the ZEW has been collecting annual data on the innovation behaviour of German companies – from new products and processes to investments and obstacles. The surveys are commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The ZEW Innovation Survey provides valuable insights into Germany's technological performance and serves as a basis for political and economic decisions.
