The aim of the project is to classify the recipients of the Federal Direct R&D Project Funding (DPF) with regard to their belonging to the group of small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) based on different SME definitions. The project builds on previous analyses conducted by ZEW on behalf of the BMBF and the DLR for SMEs within the DPF.
