This project constituted of a qualitative and quantitative assessement of demand-side reactions to a system of tropical hardwood certification. Point of departure represented an analysis of the use of tropical hardwood in major downstream areas. The developed scenarios acoount for situations with and without

a) the cost of a certification system,

b) the inclusion of non-tropical timber and related products, and

c) the disposition to pay more for wood and related products from tropical regions.

Furthermore, each scenario was run both for national (Germany) and international (OECD) levels of certification.
