New European Taxes for the EU Budget?

The Current Perspectives on Innovative EU Own Resources

For decades, there have been discussions about new genuine own resources for the EU budget – so far without a substantial breakthrough. That could change in the coming years. Pressure has never been higher to find new sources of funding, as the EU must repay 750 billion Euro in debt from its recovery fund “Next Generation EU”.

What are the most promising candidates for new genuine EU taxes or other types of own resources? How do the various options perform in terms of efficiency, revenue potential, and consistency with overall EU goals in the EU Green Deal era? Will the “best” candidates gain sufficient political support? Our webinar will discuss these questions with experts from academia and the European Commission.

The event will include short presentations by the speakers, a discussion moderated by Friedrich Heinemann (ZEW), and an interactive session.

We would be very pleased to welcome you to our discussion on the future of taxation in Europe.
