International Health Economics

Workshop

As Co-Chairs of the Committee on International Cooperation of the German Association for Health Economics (dggö), the Universities of Mainz, Mannheim and ZEW Mannheim are hosting a workshop on international health economics. The idea is to bring together international economists working on health care systems in OECD countries to foster a joint understanding and collaboration of the various institutional settings and policy approaches to address issues in the health care sector, broadly defined. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to): 

  1. Health Insurance, long-term care insurance, disability insurance
  2. Systems of paid leave and labor market consequences
  3. Hospital and physician behavior and practice styles
  4. Aging and lifecycle dynamics of health care needs and use
  5. Regulation of risky health behaviors
  6. Regulation of pharmaceuticals
  7. Regulation of the health care workforce
