Fifth International ZEW Conference on the Dynamics of Entrepreneurship (CoDE)

Business dynamism describes the process of new businesses entering a market, growing, contracting, and eventually exiting. This process of creative destruction, which characterises modern market economies, drives fundamental factors such as employment and productivity growth dynamics. Innovation, and entrepreneurial activity in particular, are not only key to understanding these dynamics, but also essential for addressing societal challenges such as environmental sustainability, demographic change, employment and competitiveness.

The aim of this conference is to discuss recent scientific contributions on entrepreneurial activity, its interdependencies with innovation, environmental sustainability, and financial burdens, as well as its challenges for public policies and its implications on employment, income and economic growth.

The conference also addresses the challenges and opportunities of entrepreneurship policies to promote radical and disruptive innovation. For that purpose, selected economists and political representatives will jointly participate in a panel discussion on the contribution of young firms to the transformation of our economies.

Recent theoretical, empirical and/or policy-oriented contributions on all research areas of entrepreneurship are welcome.
