How much remote work is optimal for my organisation, which policies are effective, and are flexible desk arrangements or individual offices the better solution? The workplace of the future is undergoing significant transformation, and successful organisations do not merely respond to these changes but actively shape them. The optimal solution is inherently context-specific and depends on organisational culture, task structures and governance arrangements. Jointly, it is possible to develop workplace concepts that integrate productivity, flexibility and employee satisfaction and strengthen the long-term resilience and future readiness of the organisation.

Homeoffice – Corona-Hype oder langfristiges Erfolgsmodell?

The COVID-19 pandemic triggered an unprecedented surge in remote work. This article explores whether the widespread adoption of remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic represents a temporary response or a lasting transformation in work organisation. Drawing on recent literature and repeated business surveys, it examines the diffusion and perception of remote work over the course of the pandemic and beyond. Furthermore, the article discusses the initial challenges companies faced in implementing remote work and the key drivers of the long-lasting shift towards a more flexible work organization, including better-than-expected experiences, changed employees‘ preferences, and technology advancements.
