Cumulative Effects of Measures for the Banking Sector – Impact Assessment of the Various Regulatory Initiatives Affecting the EU Banking Sector –

In this study we will carry out an extensive review of existing impact studies, taking into account studies from various sources. We will consider the following legislative measures:  taxation of banks and the involvement of financial market participants in bearing the cost of the crisis; systemic importance; reform of deposit guarantee schemes in the EU (and investor compensation schemes); regulation of derivatives markets; regulation of credit rating agencies/reduction of reliance on ratings in prudential requirements and investment policy rules; changes to accounting rules for financial institutions/financial instruments; EU initiative on regulating short sales; review of the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID).  In addition to this literature review, we will also deal with further information collection concerning the impact of some of the various legislative measures.
