Health Care Markets and Health Policy

Simon Reif is a health economist and has been head of the Research Group “Health Care Markets and Health Policy” at ZEW Mannheim. He is also professor of economics with a focus on healthcare markets at Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU) and member of the Munich Center for Health Economics and Policy (M-CHEP).

He studied economics and sociology at FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg, the University of Hull, UK, and LMU Munich. After completing his PhD at FAU on the supply of medical services, he worked as a PostDoc at RWI Essen and as a consultant for digital health startups.

His research lies in the areas of health economics and applied econometrics, with a focus on the behavioral and institutional aspects of medical service provision, in particular on how digitalization shapes health care services.
