Dr. Dr. Peter Bettermann Deceased

ZEW mourns the death of Dr. Dr. Peter Bettermann, the former chairman of the ZEW Sponsors’ Association for Science and Practice.

ZEW Mannheim mourns the death of Dr. Dr. Bettermann, who passed away on 19 September 2021 at the age of 74. The former spokesman for the company management and partner of Freudenberg & Co. had been a member of ZEW Sponsors’ Association for Science and Practice since 2001. In 2005, he took over the chairmanship of the association until 2013.

Dr. Dr. Bettermann was closely connected to ZEW for many years. ZEW Managing Director Thomas Kohl praises Peter Bettermann as “a valued friend and supporter, always ready to lend his knowledge and creative power to ZEW research. He was one of the great entrepreneurial figures in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region.
His strong commitment has contributed significantly to strengthening the exchange between science and practice and to making the Sponsors’ Association a unique platform for discussion on key economic policy issues in the metropolitan region.
His ideas on knowledge transfer were visionary. Under his chairmanship, the Sponsors’ Association received ground-breaking impulses, which enabled the implementation of countless scientific projects and events at ZEW Mannheim.”

ZEW will keep Dr. Dr. Bettermann in fond memory

The ZEW Sponsors’ Association for Science and Practice was established by business representatives to support ZEW’s scientific work. The association also sees itself as a forum for entrepreneurs and academics to discuss central economic policy issues.
