The project “Calculation of the federal government’s digital budget 2025 in Germany” builds on the preceding project Calculation of the federal government's digital budget. The previous project represented the first comprehensive quantification of the federal digital budget, spanning the fiscal years 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2024.

The main objective of the follow-up project is to refine the digital budget framework established in the previous project and to calculate the federal digital budget for the fiscal year 2025.

In addition, in depth analyses concerning the “Federal Ministry for Digital Transformation and Government Modernisation” are planned, as well as a comparison of the actual versus planned federal digital expenditures. The project will also evaluate the digital spending with respect to its goal orientation and impact effectiveness. Finally, for the first time, the digital budget for a selected German state will be calculated.
