Employment prospects in the knowledge economy

Employment prospects in the knowledge economy

Client/Allowance

European Commission

Period: 01.09.2001 – 31.08.2004

This project investigates the impact of the knowledge economy on employment generation in Europe. It will first construct knowledge indicators for selected European countries, such as ICT (information and communication technology), capital, skilled labour, R&D and other intangible expenditures. Taxonomies of industries will be constructed whereby industries are divided according to their intensity of use of knowledge indicators. Special attention will be given to the under-research service activities. This analysis will be supplemented by a detailed examination of the demand for skilled labour, productivity and growth in the knowledge economy and the impact of the institutional infrastructure on the diffusion of innovation.
