Potentials and Barriers for Start-ups in the Implementation of the Energiewende

Potentials and Barriers for Start-ups in the Implementation of the Energiewende

The purpose of the project is to monitor firm formation dynamics in industries relevant for the transformation to clean energy production and energy savings. In a first step, relevant industries are identified and firms are classified accordingly. In a second step, firm formation dynamics within these industries will be analyzed by the timing of start-ups and the importance of start-ups within the industry. The importance will be measured by the number of start-ups and the total number of people employed by these firms relative to the established firms in the industries. Further, specific market potentials and barriers for start-ups in the industries relevant for the transformation to clean energy production and energy savings will be identified
