Capital Names ZEW’s Research Department Head a Top Performer with High Potential

Capital magazine named ZEW economist Vitali Gretschko one of the “top 40 under 40” talents from science and society.

The German business magazine Capital counts ZEW economist Professor Vitali Gretschko among the “top 40 under 40” talents from science and society. For Capital, the head of the Research Department “Market Design” at ZEW Mannheim is one of the most important talents from business, politics, science and society who are shaping developments in Germany.

“Our goal is to take the knowledge from science and carry it into practice,” asserts Gretschko.

His team deals with practical issues such as the efficient design of auctions, e.g. in mobile telephony and procurement, or with so-called ‘matching markets’, e.g. the allocation of daycare places and food donations, which are not coordinated exclusively by price because this is either not possible or socially undesirable.

Vitali Gretschko receives the "Young Elite - the Top 40 under 40" award

The team is currently investigating the question of what energy markets of the future might look like.

Congratulations to Vitali Gretschko on the distinction “Young Elite – the top 40 under 40”!
