ZEW Sustainability Report 2023/24
Dates and NewsClimate Protection and Staff in Focus
For the sixth time, ZEW Mannheim publishes its sustainability report within the KLIMAWIN reporting framework (until 2024: WIN Charter) of the State of Baden-Württemberg. ZEW signed the WIN Charter in 2018, thereby committing itself to the twelve guiding principles for sustainable and climate-conscious economic activity. This year, for the first time, the report appears in the new KLIMAWIN format.
The guiding principle at the centre of the report is “climate protection“. ZEW is publishing a greenhouse gas inventory for the first time, and has set concrete targets for emission reduction. Particularly noteworthy are the substantial cuts in energy consumption – a significant success of the measures implemented so far. Another focal point is the seventh guiding principle: “Employee Rights and Employee Welfare.” Important milestones in this area include the TOTAL E-QUALITY title, which was again awarded to ZEW, as well as the implementation of a risk assessment for psychological stress in the workplace (GB Psych).
ZEW commits to economic, ecological and social responsibility
ZEW is aware of the environmental, economic and social impacts of its activities and is firmly committed to climate action and sustainability. This commitment is evident not only in targeted measures but also in the anchoring of sustainability aspects into strategic areas such as the digitalisation strategy, IT strategy and facility management. In addition, ZEW actively supports and encourages initiatives for promoting health, sustainable mobility as well as diversity and non-discrimination in practice. Through the KLIMAWIN report, ZEW ensures transparency in these actions and fulfils its sustainability reporting obligation as stipulated in the guiding principles.
About KLIMAWIN
KLIMAWIN was established in 2014 as part of the sustainability strategy of the State of Baden-Württemberg, designed as a tool for sustainably operating small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In the meantime, large companies and corporate groups have also adopted this practical sustainability management system. It is based on voluntary self-commitment, individual initiative and transparent communication. The KLIMAWIN charter has aligned its key priorities with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and provides an extensive framework for climate and sustainability reporting.
