Chair of the German Council of Economic Experts Monika Schnitzer in the ZEW Podcast
#ZEWPodcastDouble Episode of Economics Actually on the Annual Report of the German Council of Economic Experts
The German economy has not grown since the coronavirus pandemic began. In their latest annual report, the German Council of Economic Experts therefore calls for prospects to be created for tomorrow, while at the same time warning against squandering opportunities. In two episodes of the ZEW podcast Economics Actually (Wirklich Wirtschaft), the chair of the German Council of Economic Experts, Professor Monika Schnitzer, discusses the key findings of the report. The podcast is available on all popular podcast platforms, such as Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Deezer, as well as on the ZEW website.
In the first episode, she explains in an interview with ZEW President Professor Achim Wambach why the government's debt package will only lead to minimal economic growth and why she believes phasing out combustion engines is not the right approach. Schnitzer also discusses the developments that Germany has missed out on.
In the second edition, Monika Schnitzer presents the annual report of the German Council of Economic Experts. At the end of 2025, she gave a recorded lecture as part of the ZEW event series ‘First-Hand Information on Economic Policy’, in which she presented the most comprehensive report to date by the German Council of Economic Experts.
