Julian Dörr studied economics at the universities of Tübingen and Bamberg and at Temple University in Philadelphia, USA. During his master’s studies, he focused on methods of statistics and machine learning and their application in empirical economic research. In his master’s thesis, he investigated the possibility of using machine learning to account for structural breaks and nonlinearities in forecasting economic growth.

Julian Dörr joined ZEW’s Research Department “Economics of Innovation and Business Dynamics” as a researcher and data scientist in February 2020. His research interests focus on the intersection of novel methods from the field of data science and their application in empirical economic research.
