ZEW-CS Financial Market Test Switzerland - Economic Outlook Diminishes Once Again

CH Indicator of Economic Sentiment

Economic expectations for Switzerland have diminished for the second month in a row. The ZEW-CS-Indicator has dropped by 12.8 points to the minus 24.3 mark in June. The ZEW-CS-Indicator is calculated monthly by the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in cooperation with Credit Suisse (CS). The indicator reflects the expectations of the surveyed financial market experts regarding the economic development in Switzerland on a six-month time horizon.

Nevertheless, it is noteworthy that any expectations for a cooldown in the economy are tempered by the persistently very strong assessment of the current economic situation.  The indicator for the assessment of the current economic situation in Switzerland continues to hover at an extraordinarily high level of 70.3 points.

Expectations for inflation recorded a significant decline in June. The indicator for the inflation outlook has dropped by 15.8 points, with merely 40.5 per cent of the financial market experts surveyed still anticipating that inflation rates will advance on a six-month horizon.
