Remote Work In Europe: Evidence, Impacts, Policy
ConferenceMid-Term Insights From Three Horizon Europe Projects
Three Horizon Europe sister projects — WinWin4WorkLife, REMAKING, and R-MAP — come together in this joint research symposium to present new evidence, models, and policy pathways for shaping the future of remote work in Europe.
Remote work is no longer a temporary response to crisis. It is a structural transformation which may influence productivity, well-being, gender equality, mobility patterns, environmental outcomes, and regional development. The symposium will showcase cutting-edge interdisciplinary research on how remote work is reshaping Europe’s economies, regions, organisations, and everyday life. Drawing on survey data, in-depth interviews, expert workshops and case studies from various European countries, researchers will present empirical evidence on employers’ and employees’ experiences with remote working arrangements. Agent-based modelling, comparative surveys, and interactive visualisation platforms will illustrate impacts on metropolitan areas, inner regions, mobility patterns, and environmental outcomes. The symposium concludes with a policy-oriented session, presenting emerging policy briefs from each project and facilitating an interactive discussion with the participants.
Together, the three projects provide complementary perspectives offering policymakers and stakeholders a robust evidence base to shape the future of remote work that is healthy, inclusive, and sustainable across Europe.
