European Workshop on Market Design 2025

Workshop

The European Workshop on Market Design (EWMD) started in 2019, as KIT-Paris-ZEW Workshop on Market Design, organized by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Panthéon-Assas University (Paris 2) and Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW). After a break due to the pandemic, the Ecole Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay (ENS Paris-Saclay) and the Centre For Economics at Paris-Saclay (CEPS) joined the organisation in 2022, followed by the University of Cologne in 2023. In 2024, two partners departed, while Rice University, along with the Rice Global Paris Center serving as Rice University’s hub in Europe, joined the workshop.

The EWMD was initiated by Olivier Bos, Nicolas Fugger, Vitali Gretschko and Nora Szech (1980-2023).

The workshop takes place over two days, and aims to bring together researchers working on problems that frequently arise when designing markets. That covers all related fields beyond economics, including behavioral sciences, computer science, mathematics and operation managment.

The 2025 Lecture in Memory of Nora Szech (1980-2023) will be given by Thomas Mariotti (Toulouse School of Economics).
