Statistical Publications

The results of the Innovation Survey are extrapolated for the survey population, broken down by economic sector, employee size class, and for eastern and western Germany. These innovation statistics are published for core indicators of innovation activity (annually) and key indicators (usually every two or four years).

In addition, for most survey waves, the survey characteristics set out in the documentation are available as tabular appendices.

For the Community Innovation Survey (CIS), the survey results are extrapolated separately. They relate to the CIS reporting population, which covers fewer economic sectors and size classes than the national innovation statistics. From the 2022 reporting year onwards, the CIS extrapolations will be based on a different reporting unit (statistical enterprise) to that used in the national innovation statistics (legal entity).
