In this research project, we are developing and testing the use of website information to measure innovation and technological developments. To this end, we analyze the websites of all companies and other organizations in Germany and use various AI-based methods to create indicators that enable us to map technological developments, networks, and actors within innovation ecosystems. Furthermore, these indicators are linked to company data and other relevant information. The goal of the project is to create a new information and data base and to conduct research on technology diffusion and its effects on the German economy. Additionally, the project aims to expand the research expertise of ZEW researchers in the areas of digital language and text processing as well as the use of generative AI. Research results and the resulting datasets will ultimately be made available to the scientific community through the ZEW-FDZ.
