The project aims at preparing the European innovation survey for the 2022 reference year (Community Innovation Survey – CIS 2022). This includes the development of a questionnaire and an update of the survey methodology. A key issue is to apply the EU definition of 'enterprise' into European innovation statistics. In addition, the project will further develop concepts and methodologies for measuring innovation output and will investigate options for better harmonising data collection activities of member states. Finally, the project explores the possibilities to use big external data for obtaining innovation indicators.
