ZEW President Clemens Fuest Appointed to Government Commission on Minimum Wage

The president of the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW), Professor Clemens Fuest, has been appointed to the Minimum Wage Commission, which starts work on January 1, 2015. Professor Fuest sits on the commission as an advising scientific member. The nine-member committee was appointed by the federal government.

From 2015 a general minimum wage of EUR 8.50 per working hour enters into force in Germany. The standing Minimum Wage Commission is responsible for determining the gradual increase of the minimum wage.

ZEW President Professor Clemens Fuest is one of two advisory members from the area of academia working for the commission. The advisory members contribute their scientific expertise to the committee's work.
