Dates and News

Scientists from the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) are taking part in the "International Industrial Organization Conference"(IIOC) in Boston, USA. The conference will take place from 24th to 26th April 2015 and is one of the most important events in the field of economics. The ZEW researchers will participate in sessions, give lectures, and exchange ideas with colleagues from around the world about competition, regulation, and market developments.

Prof Dr Kai Hüschelrath, head of the research group "Competition and Regulation" at ZEW and coordinator of the Leibniz ScienceCampus, "Mannheim Centre for Competition and Innovation" (MaCCI), will present his research results concerning the collapse of the German cement cartel, which existed from 1991 to 2002. The ZEW scientists will also present their papers about the relation between companies´ exports and investments in research and development as well as market entry and market shakeout of oligopolies.

The Industrial Organization Society (IOS) has run the IIOC since 2003. The association focuses its research on economic issues such as syndicates, regulation and competition policy as well as on market power. In addition, the IOS publishes the "Review of Industrial Organization" and, like the ZEW, is also present at the annual conference of the Allied Social Science Association (ASSA).
