ZEW Researcher Receives Award of the Victor Rizkallah Foundation

Dr. Thomas Walter, researcher at the ZEW Research Department "Labour Markets, Human Resources and Social Policy", was honoured with the award for outstanding research of the Victor Rizkallah Foundation in Hanover on October 26, 2012. He received the prize for his dissertation "Germany’s 2005 Welfare Reform – Evaluating Key Characteristics with a Focus on Immigrants".

The awarded work examines key elements of the "Hartz IV" reform from a microeconometric perspective. The focus of Walter’s dissertation lies on immigrants, who are highly over-represented in the German welfare system. The award of the Victor Rizkallah Foundation honours excellent application-oriented scientific work of talented researchers. The dissertation was published as volume 46 in the series ZEW Economic Studies.
