ZEW researcher Reif presenting climate policy at the Moosburg Karl-Ritter-von-Frisch Gymnasium

In December 2015, 60 pupils from the 11th grade of the Karl-Ritter-von-Frisch Gymnasium, a high school in Moosburg, gained more insight on international climate policy and the latest climate agreement in Paris. Dr. Christiane Reif, a researcher of ZEW’s Research Department "Environmental and Resource Economics, Environmental Management", introduced the adolescents to an economic perspective on climate policy.

For example, she explained why the world climate may be considered a public good. After that, she gave an overview on previous international climate negotiations, outlined the situation before the climate conference in Paris, and explained the negotiation process as well as important aspects of the resulting climate agreement. Dr Reif concluded her presentation with a short assessment of the next necessary steps. Afterwards, pupils as well as teachers asked questions and jointly discussed future challenges of climate policy.
