Research Award “The Future World of Work”

The Volksbank Weinheim Stiftung and ZEW are offering two research awards on the topic “The Future World of Work”.

For the sixth year in a row, the Volksbank Weinheim Stiftung (Volksbank Weinheim Foundation) and ZEW are offering two research awards with the aim of supporting up-and-coming researchers primarily in the Rhine-Neckar region. The prizes will be awarded to the best doctoral dissertation (prize money: EUR 3,000) and the best master’s thesis (EUR 2,000) on the topic “The Future World of Work”. Award recipients will also have the opportunity to complete a research stay at ZEW. The deadline for submissions is 31 October 2018.

Potential submissions may cover a broad range of topics, from migration and demographic changes to new skills required for new job profiles, to digital platform-based working and digital training or the role played by labour market institutions. Papers must be submitted by 31 October 2018. They must have been completed at either a non-university research institution or a university located preferably in the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region (Mannheim, Heidelberg, Landau). Interested young economists are invited to submit their doctoral or master’s theses to the Volksbank Weinheim Stiftung. To qualify for the research award, the submitted doctoral theses must be rated as “very good”, and master’s theses with a grade of at least 1.7. Furthermore, the submitted theses must have been graded between 1 September 2017 and 31 August 2018. Submissions may come from the master’s student or doctoral candidate themselves or be put forward by their supervising professor.
