Dr. Holger Stichnoth, deputy head of the Research Department “Social Policy and Redistribution” at ZEW Mannheim

The University of Strasbourg has appointed Dr. Holger Stichnoth, deputy head of the Research Department “Social Policy and Redistribution” at ZEW Mannheim, as honorary professor (professeur conventionné) as of 1 September 2021. In addition to his activities in the context of university teaching, his tasks include scientific cooperation in research projects of the university’s Bureau d’Economie Théorique et Appliquée (BETA).

“Strasbourg and Mannheim have a lot in common, not only the Rhine. For many years, there has been a very fruitful scientific cooperation between ZEW and the University of Strasbourg. A new milestone of this cooperation is the appointment of Holger Stichnoth to the faculty of our French partners. Congratulations,” says ZEW President Professor Achim Wambach. ZEW and the University of Strasbourg have already concluded a cooperation agreement at the beginning of 2020. The main objective of this agreement is to enable researchers from both institutions to use each other’s research facilities and to cooperate in the field of academic teaching. “Stichnoth’s appointment is an important further component in bringing this cooperation agreement to life and a contribution to intensifying cross-border research between Germany and France at the European level,” says ZEW Managing Director Thomas Kohl, describing the expectations of this appointment.
