F.A.Z. Economists Ranking 2016: ZEW Researchers Among Top 100 Economists

Numerous researchers and research associates from the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) are included in the latest Economists Ranking published by the German newspaper "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" (F.A.Z.). Above all, ZEW President Professor Achim Wambach was able to improve his position significantly compared to the previous year, moving up from rank 39 to rank 10 in the list of the 100 most influential economists in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Achim Wambach is closely followed by ZEW Research Associate Professor Martin Weber, who comes 19th in the annual ranking (18th in 2015). Martin Weber holds the Chair of Business Administration and Finance, esp. Banking, at the University of Mannheim. For the first time, ZEW Research Associate Professor Christoph Spengel, who holds the Chair of Business Administration and Taxation II at the University of Mannheim, was included in this year's Economists Ranking, entering the list at No. 37.

Professor Friedrich Heinemann, head of the Research Department "Corporate Taxation and Public Finance" comes 69th in the overall ranking (65th in 2015). Professor Andreas Peichl, head of the ZEW Research Group "International Distribution and Redistribution", entered the list of the most influential economists at No. 83.

The F.A.Z Economists Ranking was developed in 2013 and measures the performance of leading economists based on their media presence, political influence and number of quotations in academic literature.
