Fabian Oppel

Fabian Oppel is Team Lead of “Media Relations and Creation” at ZEW Mannheim, where he heads the Press Office, podcast editorial team, and internal communications. He is also responsible for communications for the research units “Digital Economy” and “Health Care Markets and Health Policy”

In this role, he ensures that complex scientific findings are translated for a wider audience and communicated through the media. He maintains close relationships with German and international media representatives and supports ZEW researchers in preparing their results for target audiences. He also offers in-house media training and contributes strategically to the further development of ZEW’s communication channels.

Before joining ZEW, Fabian Oppel gained several years of experience in communication and editorial work, including positions at a market research institute and various companies. He also worked as a freelance journalist for print, online, and TV. He studied German and Business Administration at the universities of Mannheim and Heidelberg.
