Barbara Hey is a trainer and systemic coach in ZEW's unit “HR”. She has more than 28 years’ experience as a trainer, facilitator and coach at universities, research institutions and in international companies. She is also a member of the programme advisory board of the Leibniz Academy for Executives. In her work, she supports researchers and PhD candidates worldwide, helping them to communicate academic content clearly, persuasively and effectively.
Her areas of expertise include professional presentations in academia, facilitation and facilitation coaching, leadership in academic and research environments, as well as resilience and mental health. As the author of several specialist books in German and English for academics, she combines in-depth expertise with many years of practical experience.
In 2026, Barbara Hey completed the online programme “Stress Management and Resiliency Training (SMART)” offered by Harvard Medical School Professional & Continuing Education. During the programme, she gained a deeper understanding of scientifically grounded and practice-oriented approaches to stress management, enhancing focus and concentration, and strengthening emotional resilience.
Barbara Hey combines her many years’ experience in academic and leadership development with a holistic approach that links persuasive communication, leadership skills and personal resilience.
