12/2025 - Highlights from 2025

An eventful 2025 is drawing to a close – a year that has kept the economic policy landscape in Europe and beyond in motion like few before it. The political shifts at the national and international levels, the ongoing debates about competitiveness, energy supply and global trade relations, as well as the growing uncertainty in the markets have once again demonstrated the importance of evidence-based analysis and independent economic expertise.

Against this backdrop, 2025 was not only a period of intensive research for our institute, but also a year of strategic development. The approval of an extraordinary item of expenditure for developing a new research unit in health economics from 2027 onwards will enable us to further sharpen our profile and dedicate ourselves even more strongly to the future issues facing the economy and society.

We have also taken important steps internally: With two new professorships, important positions on advisory boards and a newly structured service unit, we are excellently positioned as an institute to actively shape the coming years.
