Economic expectations for Switzerland brighten up in December. In the wake of some weak previous months, the relevant indicator edged up by 18.4 points, reaching the minus 12.5 mark. The ZEW-CS-Indicator is calculated monthly by the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in cooperation with Credit Suisse (CS). The indicator reflects the expectations of the surveyed financial market experts regarding the economic development in Switzerland on a six month time horizon.

In December the indicator for the assessment of the current economic situation edged up by another 12.5 points to the 62.5-point threshold, continuing to follow a more optimistic trend. Expectations regarding the short-term interest rate picture edged down slightly compared with the November reading, with the relevant indicator dipping by 3.1 points to the 23.1 level.
