CH Indicator of Economic Sentiment

Economic expectations for Switzerland brightened up again in March, with the relevant ZEW-CS-Indicator edging up 3.7 points to the minus 13.5 mark. The ZEW-CS-Indicator is calculated monthly by the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in cooperation with Credit Suisse (CS). The indicator reflects the expectations of the surveyed financial market experts regarding the economic development in Switzerland on a six-month time horizon.

After its decline in the previous survey, the indicator for the assessment of the current economic situation in Switzerland has improved by 7.6 points in March, reaching an extraordinarily high plateau of 67.6 points. Inflation expectations climbed further in March, with 64.9 percent of respondents (plus 21.9 percentage points) in the interim anticipating a pick-up in the Swiss consumer price index on a six-month horizon.
