Upcoming Conference: Reform of European Financial Market Supervisory Authority

Dates and News

The conference "Regulation and Supervision of Financial Markets and Institutions in the EU" will take place on 10 and 11 July 2012 at the Centre for European Economics Research (ZEW) in Mannheim.

Even before the introduction of the single currency, a number of new risks arose as a result of the increasing integration of European financial markets. Such financial integration has resulted in a situation whereby a crisis affecting one large bank or insurance agency in an EU state will have significant implications for financial institutions in other EU countries. Such a crisis might even have a domino effect throughout Europe. In view of the risk arising from the contradiction from an increasing EU integration and the continued national-orientation of financial supervisory authorities, calls are being made for reform of the financial market supervisory structures in Europe.

The Centre for European Economics Research (ZEW) has taken this development as an opportunity to hold a conference at which leading academics, policy-makers from the fields of politics and management, bankers and other individuals with experience in the financial sector will discuss the reform of financial market supervisory structures in Europe.

The conference "Regulation and Supervision of Financial Markets and Institutions in the EU" will take place on 10 and 11 July 2003 at the Centre for European Economics Research (ZEW), Mannheim.
