Changes to the ZEW Supervisory Board – Jürgen Strube Elected Vice-Chair, Theo Spettmann and Norbert Schmitt Newly Appointed

At this year's first supervisory board meeting of the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW), Mannheim, Prof. Dr Dr h.c. Jürgen Strube, president of the Union of Industrial and Employers' Confederations of Europe (UNICE) and chairman of the BASF AG Supervisory Board, was elected vice-chair of the ZEW Supervisory Board. Newly appointed members of the ZEW Supervisory Board are: Dr Theo Spettmann, spokesman of the Executive Board at Südzucker AG Mannheim/Ochsenfurt and Norbert Schmitt, Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Finance.

Spettmann took on one of the two new mandates added to the ZEW Supervisory Board on January 1, 2005, after the institute's admission to the Federal-Länder agreement on joint funding (Leibniz Association). Schmitt replaces Hans-Martin Scheschonka, a long-standing representative of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Finance at the ZEW Supervisory Board, who retired at the end of last year.
