Fiscal Decision Making
The Research Area Comprises
- Political Economy of Fiscal Policy
- Fiscal Preferences of Voters and Politicians
- Decision Making in Fiscal Federations
The research area “Fiscal Decision-Making” undertakes economic policy analyses of fiscal decisions. Researchers in this area focus on the causes that explain the differences between, on the one hand, real fiscal policy and, on the other hand, the normative implications of research in public economics. They investigate the ways in which voters and politicians form their fiscal preferences and make decisions. In addition to administrative data, the researchers use data from voluntary surveys of members of parliament, citizen surveys and AI-assisted text analyses as a basis for their work.
